Suggested approach
- Prepare the correct stage
Keep the supplied trap ready before leaving Auberdine. Check the target's full name: ordinary Thistle Bears do not match the objective.
- Follow the named objective
Place the trap for a living Rabid Thistle Bear and confirm capture credit in the quest log before travelling back. This is a capture task, so avoid killing the target first.
- Confirm credit and hand over
Return to Tharnariun with the captured animal. If the trap is lost before a successful capture, ask him for a replacement rather than continuing without the required item.
Planning notes
The capture and culling quests use the same animal name but different completion rules. Keep the supplied tool visible and confirm capture credit before the return; killing more bears cannot repair a missing capture.
If progress stalls
Compare the exact animal name, tool and active quest. The later twenty-kill stage is a separate acceptance, not a continuation of the capture counter.
